Aaron Mentha

Aaron Mentha, Director and LawyerAaron is the head of Aspen Legal’s law firm. He advises a wide range of Australian and international clients on corporate, commercial and intellectual property matters.

Aaron has extensive experience in mergers and acquisitions and equity capital markets, as well as a particular focus on research, innovation and the commercialisation of technology.

Prior to creating Aspen Legal, Aaron worked in private practice at a leading Australian law firm, was the general counsel and head of strategy for an international generic pharmaceutical company, and created and led the commercial legal team at one of Australia’s leading universities.

Outside of Aspen Legal, Aaron enjoys travel, keeping fit, cooking and spending time with his young family.

Nat Parbhu

Nat Parbhu, Director and LawyerNat works across both the secondments business and the law firm at Aspen Legal. He brings a wealth of international legal and new law experience to Aspen Legal.

Nat started his career in private practice in New Zealand and London, before moving in house into one of the world’s largest FMCG businesses where he led legal teams in Africa and Asia.

Upon moving to Melbourne, Nat was a principal and shareholder in new law start up lexvoco where he grew the secondments business in Melbourne and co-founded lexvoco New Zealand. lexvoco was purchased by LOD in 2019 following which Nat headed LOD Legal, the law firm side of the business.

The mountains remain Nat’s burning passion away from the workplace.

Andrew Adlam

Andrew Adlam, DirectorAndrew is Head of Client Solutions and Secondments at Aspen Legal.

Andrew brings a wealth of legal management and legal sales experience to our team, from a career spanning over 30 years, from working in leading international law businesses in Australia and the United Kingdom. This includes most recently building the Melbourne secondment business for LOD (formerly AdventBalance), from small beginnings in 2013 to the established LOD business of today. Prior to this, Andrew worked in legal technology sales, after spending more than twenty years as a barristers’ clerk for one of London’s leading barristers’ chambers.

Andrew has also spent time in business consulting after completing an MBA with Melbourne Business School.

Away from work, Andrew is a keen cyclist, sailor and skier.

Fiona Grandage

Fiona Grandage, DirectorFiona works across the secondments business and the law firm.

She’s a seasoned legal and governance professional with experience that includes General Counsel, Company Secretary and corporate governance roles.

Fiona has worked primarily in house, in sectors including manufacturing, transport and education.

Fiona prides herself on being accessible and approachable. She brings a highly commercial mind to her work.

When not grappling with legal problems she enjoys being with her family at home or in the bush, or working on her tennis game.

Joseph McCarthy

Joseph McCarthyJoseph heads up Aspen Legal’s industry-leading research, innovation and higher education practice.

He is a subject matter expert in the areas of research and development, commercialisation of intellectual property and early stage start-up structuring and capital raising. Joseph also has extensive experience across general corporate commercial matters and mergers & acquisitions. Prior to joining Aspen Legal, Joseph worked in top tier private practice and also headed teams at two of Australia’s leading globally-ranked universities.

Outside of work, Joseph enjoys spending time with friends and family and indulging his passion for food and wine.

Felicity Lyall

Felicity LyallFelicity is Head of Secondments NSW at Aspen Legal.

Felicity is a strategic client relationship specialist with 15 years’ experience in the legal industry. Having started her career as a lawyer, Felicity’s focus over the last decade has been on developing and implementing effective business development strategies to generate growth and optimise the client experience (Cx) within legal services businesses.

Felicity’s recent experience includes working as Director of Clients for a large law and professional services Group and as the Business Development and Marketing lead for an award-winning boutique financial services law firm. A people person at heart, she is passionate about building long term relationships as well as coaching and developing the teams she works with to empower their future success.

Felicity heads up Aspen’s secondments business in New South Wales and is focused on partnering with our in-house clients to find flexible and bespoke solutions for their resourcing needs.

Outside of work you’ll find Felicity trying to keep up with her energetic toddler and exploring the beautiful coastline of Sydney and beyond.

Brooke Mentiplay

Brooke MentiplayBrooke is a senior corporate and commercial lawyer at Aspen bringing over 8 years’ of experience across private practice and in-house.

She has worked in mid and top tier practices, advising on a broad range of corporate and commercial legal issues.

This experience includes M&A projects, competition, joint ventures, commercial, procurement, and infrastructure.

Prior to Aspen, she has previously worked in-house for Shell, in both the upstream and downstream businesses.

Thomas Hanna

Thomas HannaTom is an experienced Senior Corporate Lawyer with over 10 years post admission experience, spent in private practice as well as in house.

Prior to Aspen, and acting for one of Australia’s largest Universities, Tom played a critical role as one of the primary lawyers responsible for acting on corporate and commercialisation matters. He also acted across numerous other areas including regulatory and governance, philanthropy and general commercial matters.

Within private practice, Tom acted on a broad range of commercial and property matters across a broad range of industries from hospitality, medical practices and manufacturing.

Outside of work, Tom is a “habitual hobbyist”, dabbling in martial arts, computer/board games, scuba diving, surfing and aqua-scaping.

Bridget Renehan

Alys White

Alys WhiteAlys has extensive experience partnering with clients to identify and recruit top talent in difficult markets across various sectors, from start-up to large-scale international companies.

Her ability to understand each individual client and the type of person required to be successful in their team is what sets her apart, and she enjoys the challenge and reward that comes with this process.

Building strong, long-lasting relationships is at the forefront of everything that she does and she’s excited to continue this as she focuses on the growth of Aspen Legal secondments. She aims to provide a service that is seamless, efficient, and enjoyable for all involved which means she’s the first point of contact when her clients have a requirement.

She’s originally from New Zealand and has called Melbourne home for 3.5 years now after moving over to chase something bigger than the small country town she called home in the South Island.

Since being in Melbourne she has worked predominantly in the recruitment industry, and has had the opportunity to work with some incredible leaders, colleagues, and companies from start-up size to enterprise. This has predominantly been focused on the technology industry where she has partnered with clients extensively to build out their high-quality Software Engineering teams. She brings a strong passion for both the challenge and reward that comes with hiring the right people to ensure that her clients’ businesses will thrive and grow, and what sets her apart is her ability to understand both clients and candidates on a deeper level to ensure the right fit for both.

In my spare time you will find her at the gym, hiking, cooking up a storm, travelling to different locations all around the world.
